Welcome to our blog!
Amy and Jennifer ARE Seduced by Books. We’re both in our 30’s, moms, close friends, work together, and share many of the same interests including our love of reading. Amy grew up in Maryland and has been obsessed with Vampires for as long as she can remember. Jenn grew up in Florida and loves the furry, the fey, and the fangs, in that order. Currently we are both in Orlando, FL. When we can be pulled away from books, Amy loves to bake and Jenn loves to take pictures and scrap.
We decided to create a place where we could direct friends, and acquaintances for, book suggestions/recommendations (Jenn’s been known to talk to strangers on the train while traveling in NYC). Once we started out with a simple page, we evolved from there. Now we are sharing our book reviews, fun comments, recipes, and giveaways. We try to give reviews on new releases, pre-releases, and oldies but goodies that we read, or are reading. We’re going to be adding author interviews for established and up and coming authors soon.

Real Vampires Have More to Love by Gerry Bartlett

Real Vampires Have More to LoveGlory St. Clair is a vampire with problems. First there’s her on-again, off-again lover Jeremy Blade, back in town and expecting her to fall into his arms. Doesn’t he remember that they have issues? And what about smoking hot rock star Ray Caine? He’s back too and sinking his fangs into someone else. Glory told him to move on, but does his new love interest have to be so thin? At least Valdez is still loyal. But her former bodyguard is no longer dogging her. Instead, he’s now a gorgeous guy determined to share her apartment and maybe something more. So much man-candy is enough to make even a gal with a liquid diet feel a sugar rush.

Glory's got no time to enjoy it, though, considering that she's in the middle of planning her best friend's wedding. And let's not forget that there happens to be a hit on her head, thanks to when she took out a techno-freak billionaire. Now, between planning a bachelorette party and dodging stakes, Glory has to decide which man she really wants, before her love life meets an early grave...(summary on the book’s back cover)

I love Gerry Bartlett’s Glory St. Clair (Real Vampires) series. The characters she has created are so much fun! Glory is so relatable. She curvy and isn’t happy with the way she looks – as many of us aren’t. Unfortunately for her, being a vampire, she’s stuck that way. She’s also always on a budget which is hard for her because she has expensive taste. I SO understand that feeling!!

Real Vampires Have More to Love is book 6 in the series. Since it is so far in, there may be a few spoilers below – but I’ll try to keep them to a minimum!

In this book we see Glory still determined to be independent. She’s convinced Blade, her sexy sire and sometimes boyfriend, that she can handle herself without a bodyguard. So Valdez, the shape-shifter who had been her bodyguard, is now her roommate: her HOT roommate. And he seems interested in doing more than just guarding her body!

She also has to help plan her best friend Florence’s wedding and throw her a bachelorette party. Of course Flo can’t make it easy for her. She wants Ray Caine, the gorgeous rock star that Glory pretended to be engaged to, to sing at her wedding. So Glory has to call in a favor with him, and when she does, it seems he’s not over her.

As if all that isn’t enough to deal with, there’s someone out to get her. Glory killed a vampire hating billionaire and now his kids are trying to kill her.

This book, like the rest of the series, was an entertaining read. It was fast past and definitely kept my attention. I couldn’t put it down. I already can’t want for the next book, Real Vampires Don’t Wear Size Six!! I hope Mrs. Bartlett keeps ‘em coming!

The Keepers by Heather Graham

The Keepers (Silhouette Nocturne)At the core of New Orleans lie the otherworldly vampires and shape-shifters that hide in plain sight among mankind. As one of the Keepers, an elite group possessing superior skill and strength, Fiona MacDonald's duty is to maintain peace in a place where one vampire's bite could ignite war. When Detective Jagger DeFarge, a vampire, is called in at the discovery of a body drained of blood, both the detective and Fiona must join uneasy forces.
Jagger will stop at nothing to find the murderer— including working with the sensual and suspicious Fiona. As more die, it becomes clear that this isn't the work of an ordinary vampire. No one is safe. So when the killer's attention turns to Fiona, will Jagger risk destroying his own species to protect the woman he so passionately desires?

There are 3 Books in this Keepers series – This is book 1 (The Keepers), books 2 and 3 will be reviewed shortly (The Wolven and The Shifters), which are not written by Heather Graham, she teamed up with Deborah LeBlanc and Alexandra Sokoloff.

This view on the supernatural world in New Orleans is extremely enthralling.  These sisters are unique with interesting and valuable abilities – Fiona is our oldest sister and has hardened herself over the last 2 years.  Graham has written Fiona to be strong willed and yet at the same time I felt vulnerable.  She is blinded by who she blames for the death of her parents.

We are set to find a serial killer that could either be a vampire or ‘something else’, preying on beautiful blondes.  Working with Detective Jagger puts Fiona on high alert to her feelings for him.  Jagger is one hot vampire, set out to bring justice to this killer, even if it’s one of his own.

Graham definitely knew when to turn up the heat.  She kept the storyline twisting and turning while giving us the steamy element of the forbidden romance.  Fiona has to come to terms with her feeling of placing blame as it blinds her to be open minded and she is still working hard to align herself as a Keeper.  Jagger is working hard to keep her safe, well and maybe that’s not all.

The twist at the end was definitely not expected.  Well done!
