Welcome to our blog!
Amy and Jennifer ARE Seduced by Books. We’re both in our 30’s, moms, close friends, work together, and share many of the same interests including our love of reading. Amy grew up in Maryland and has been obsessed with Vampires for as long as she can remember. Jenn grew up in Florida and loves the furry, the fey, and the fangs, in that order. Currently we are both in Orlando, FL. When we can be pulled away from books, Amy loves to bake and Jenn loves to take pictures and scrap.
We decided to create a place where we could direct friends, and acquaintances for, book suggestions/recommendations (Jenn’s been known to talk to strangers on the train while traveling in NYC). Once we started out with a simple page, we evolved from there. Now we are sharing our book reviews, fun comments, recipes, and giveaways. We try to give reviews on new releases, pre-releases, and oldies but goodies that we read, or are reading. We’re going to be adding author interviews for established and up and coming authors soon.

Body of Sin by Eve Silver

Body of Sin (Hqn)Once the favorite son of the Lord of the Underworld, Lokan Krayl held enviable privileges and powers. Powers that led to a devastating betrayal--murder.

Resurrected by his immortal brothers, Lokan is still trapped in purgatory. He has no way to contact his family. He has no answers. In order to find the truth about his death and who killed him, he must escape his prison. And there's only one way out: through the twelve gates of his eternal enemy, Osiris.
But Lokan has help. Bryn Carr, the woman who duped him once before, is his beautiful yet unwanted guide. She's been sent by his brothers to aid him. She's his last hope. Lokan must place his fate--and that of the mortal and immortal worlds--in the hands of the one woman he can never trust. (courtesy of Amazon)

I missed the men of the Otherkin series – so I was thrilled to be honored with an advance copy to review. Of course, that means I have to wait even longer for the next book, if there is one.
And after finishing Lokan’s book, I have to say, I’m desperately waiting/hoping. As we already met the other three steamy brothers and loved them as they met their mates – book 1, book 2, and book 3 reviews; it was just grand to finally hear the whole story of the one brother they have all fought so hard to save.

Silver took an imaginative twist on ancient lore with our soul reapers and she ROCKS a ‘bedroom’ scene, or floor, shower, wall, you get the idea. To watch two characters go from lust to love and while thinking they can never be free has been an amazing journey. I think that Silver buttons up the loose ends but leaves open a few – I’m hoping for some spin offs or the story to continue.  This book is coming out next week! :)

Sins of the Flesh by Eve Silver

Sins of the Flesh (Hqn)The blood of the Underworld lord of evil runs through soul reaper Malthus Krayl's veins. Raised to fight for survival and to kill for victory, he can destroy anyone who poses a threat. As he searches for the one responsible for his brother's murder, he refuses to succumb to any distraction…until his sworn enemy crosses his path and tempts him beyond all reason.
Calliope Kane, a Daughter of Aset, has a personal hatred for soul reapers. Their savage attack against her family still haunts her. But only Malthus can help her find the traitors of her kind, and only she can help him hunt the source of betrayal amongst the reapers. As they unite, the danger grows closer…and the passion between them ignites. (courtesy of Amazon)

Book 3 in the Otherkin Series by Eve Silver

Silver knows how to give your the right level of heat, mystery, and romance.  Continuing the mystery of who has killed the brother Lokan, Silver keeps you on the edge of your seat with the suspense.  Hard core roller coaster of twists and turns in this series.  Book 3 is about my favorite brother, Mal, the womanizing pirate.  Heck yea that's what we all want :) .  Silver's character development in this series has me in love with the three brothers, I picture them over at my house, and great friends.  For an author to make them so real, so early in the first book, I'm impressed.  Mal became my favorite as soon as he was introduced.

Never anticipating to meet his match in the love department, he's knocked right off his feet when he comes in contact with Calli.  Calli is one hot female, she's known to love you and leave you, right in the back of the club; but she's also kick a$$.  High up in the Aset Guard, and extremely strong for her female stature, she gives Mal quite the run.

Silver turns up the heat in this book, from hot to scorching!  Oh Man!

In my heart I knew the ending was coming, but Silver surprised me still.  I can't wait for book 4 and 5 due out this year, Spring and Fall.

Sin's Daughter (short) by Eve Silver

Sin's DaughterCursed with immortality, driven into a nomadic life on the fringes of society to escape those who hunt her, Amber Hale has learned the bitter lesson that she can never grow close to anyone. Never love.
Only once did she break her own rules. And her lover, Kai Warin, paid for her mistake with his life. For decades, she's been numb with grief. Now, confronted by a soul reaper--an agent of one of the most powerful of the Underworld deities--with Kai's face, she must acknowledge the likelihood that he betrayed her...to the Lord of Evil himself.
Forced into an uneasy alliance and plagued by the unwanted yearning between them, they must work together to elude the dark forces hunting them both...(courtesy of Amazon)

As I completed 2 of the 3 main books in the Otherkin trilogy by Eve Silver, I wanted to make sure I read the short story that inserts itself between book 1 and 2.  I was glad that this was created as what seemed to be a prequel to the stories, and even more so happy that it didn't really fit into the stories and I did not miss or spoil anything.

I was a little disappointed because I expected it to tie in, but I thought the story was well done as a short quick interlude to the world of the Otherkin.  There was an interesting twist, and I do like Silver's writing. If you are looking for a quick read - grab this one, it's  able to stand alone and gives you a taste of Silver

Sins of the Soul by Eve Silver

Sins of the SoulAlastor Krayl's world shattered when he learned that his father was the Underworld god of chaos and evil. All that saved him from self-destruction were his newfound brothers and the bond they shared as soul reapers. So when one of his brothers is murdered, vengeance becomes Alastor's obsession. And the enigmatic Naphré Kurata, a witness—or is she the killer?—has the answers he seeks.
A reluctant Underworld enforcer, Naphré trusts no one, especially not a seductive soul reaper who makes her burn with lust. Torn between duty and desire, she fights to keep her secrets safe from Alastor, even as she longs to surrender. (courtesy of Amazon)

Check out the Review of Book 1 - Sins of the Heart.  There is an in between - Sin's Daughter - This is Book 2 in the Otherkin series - Sins of the Soul.

Eve Silver picks up exactly where book 1 ended, love that in a series.  We had our token resolution of part of the mystery that this book continues to attempt to solve, the death of a brother.  Each time we could potentially get closer to a clue, Silver keeps the suspense rolling with a twist.

Alastor's instant energy with Naphre is rewarding.  The banter between them only fuels the desire and the resistance to act upon it.  Loved reading their conversations and was thankful the book was full of the two of them together. Definitely picture Alastor walking right through the door and being able to hang out.

A few more details of the mystery we touched upon, not as much as expected, although this book definitely kept me enthralled with no slow spots.  I'm not hanging over the cliff on the ending, but anxious to read book 3, Sins of the Flesh to see who our killer is and read about our last brother, Mal.  So far, brother 1 and 2 (Dae and Al) I just can't get enough of.  They are next door demons that you have to have on your friends list.

Sins of the Heart by Eve Silver

Sins of the Heart (Hqn)Half human, half god, Dagan Krayl is the Underworld's most powerful soul reaper. When one of his brothers is murdered, Dagan must use every ounce of his power to hunt down those responsible for his brutal death. But he must move swiftly—and carefully—if he's to have any chance of resurrecting his brother.
Yet that resurrection could wreak havoc on the mortal world. As an Otherkin, Roxy Tam has sworn to protect the human race, and it's her mission to stop Dagan. But when she sees him face-to-face, she realizes that she has seen him once before—a meeting that changed her life forever.
Neither Dagan nor Roxy expect to join forces for the sake of mankind. Or to have their loyalties tested as they struggle against the potent desire that threatens to consume them both….(courtesy of Amazon)

3 and a half books in this 'trilogy', the Otherkin, I was anxious to get them started.  One thing i love to do is go in blind with books.  I see a cover, or a blurp about them, and I give it a try.  It lets me immerse myself in the world/book with no preconceived notions.  I read a quick summary a few months back about Sins of the Flesh (book 3) and couldn't wait to start the series.  Well, as time passed before I picked it up from the TBR pile, I wasn't sure where Eve Silver's Sins of the Heart (Book 1) was going to take me.  Elated with the result.

The Topworld and Underworlds that Silver has created are amazingly descriptive.  While they lack some 'common' mythology and history, Silver makes them her own with her perceptions and detail.  The way the worlds mesh together, yet are not supposed to collide, is a large part of the set up for this series.  Especially since when the worlds collide, it involves our lead characters, Dagan and Roxy.  Forbidden desire is definitely hot!

From page 1, we're hit with suspense.  The next pages held true to evolve the mystery, a few times it was a little slow going, but the ultimate package was worth the wait.  In the 300+ pages, Dae and Roxy felt like they were unwrapped in front of me, real, believable, and heart-catching.  As our mystery develops, only part of it unfolds and is solved. Silver ends the book with a token of resolution and then a straight cliff hanger.  DELIGHTEDLY Well Done!!
