Welcome to our blog!
Amy and Jennifer ARE Seduced by Books. We’re both in our 30’s, moms, close friends, work together, and share many of the same interests including our love of reading. Amy grew up in Maryland and has been obsessed with Vampires for as long as she can remember. Jenn grew up in Florida and loves the furry, the fey, and the fangs, in that order. Currently we are both in Orlando, FL. When we can be pulled away from books, Amy loves to bake and Jenn loves to take pictures and scrap.
We decided to create a place where we could direct friends, and acquaintances for, book suggestions/recommendations (Jenn’s been known to talk to strangers on the train while traveling in NYC). Once we started out with a simple page, we evolved from there. Now we are sharing our book reviews, fun comments, recipes, and giveaways. We try to give reviews on new releases, pre-releases, and oldies but goodies that we read, or are reading. We’re going to be adding author interviews for established and up and coming authors soon.

Lover Reborn by J R Ward

What I can say about this one is INTENSE – We all loved Wellsie and what she gave back to John and how Tohr gave himself to her when she passed. Knowing this was Tohr’s book, I went in as open minded as I could. We learned more of his past in Lover Mine and Lover Unleashed as we learned about Xhex and No’One.

Ward definitely turned the corners on this book. So much has happened in the story line. The B.o.B. are in full force, the lessers are coming out of the wood work, and the Brothers still have to validate their worth to the glymera. Ward takes Tohr through some crazy Shasta – because he can not let go, he’s hooked Wellsie in between, she can never settle. Not your typical love story – two broken souls just getting by – most of the book (which is set over about a year) Tohr goes through the motions…it’s not working.

What I love about Ward is one book does not end a couple’s story, and what I loved most about this book, probably because Xhex is one of my favorite characters, is John and Xhex. John is just unbelievable. This installment had me looking inside my own life and reflecting. I enjoyed the dive into Xhex and her mom.

I could have smacked Tohr half the time with some of his comments, but then we have all become to love these guys like our own Brothers. In series, they always have a book that is a bridge between the series continuing on, most of the times that bridge, is a small one and insignificant. This book is the fricking Golden Gate. It’s huge and not just in pages, the story line is up, down, around, flips you back, forward, you name it. It’s all good, as I said in the beginning, Intense. That is the only way I can describe it with out giving anything away. I am so looking forward to the next, Quinn and Blay’s book. After the turns of events here in Lover Reborn, it’s going to be another fricking ride for sure!

Envy by J R Ward

As the son of a serial killer, homicide detective Thomas "Veck" DelVecchio, Jr., grew up in the shadow of evil. Now, on the knife-edge between civic duty and blind retribution, he atones for the sins of his father- while fighting his inner demons. Assigned to monitor Veck is Internal Affairs officer Sophia Reilly, whose interest in him is both professional and arousingly personal. And Veck and Sophia have another link: Jim Heron, a mysterious stranger with too many answers... to questions that are deadly. When Veck and Sophia are drawn into the ultimate battle between good and evil, their fallen angel savior is the only thing that stands between them and eternal damnation.(courtesy of Amazon)

Here's the deal - I LOVE JR WARD - LOVE Over the top the Brotherhood series, so when I saw she had the Fallen Angels series, and it has ties to some of our favorite characters in the BDB series.  WIN WIN - Ward started it off awesome with Covet (Book 1) but I was a little disappointed in Crave (book 2) - well saddle up, because she brought me right back on tract with ENVY (Book 3).

The chemistry between Veck and Reilly is intense, I totally love they completely give into it.  I was on the edge of my seat reading it and at 480 pages - I was up late that night, because I just had to finish it.  Maybe I was in a funk when I read Crave - but who cares, because Envy blows it out of the water.  And still the battle of good vs evil rolls on - must read!!!

The Rebel by Jessica Bird

The Rebel (Hqn)
Nate Walker has never shied away from the hard road. Even when it meant leaving behind his family's wealth… and the fiancĂ©e who only wanted a rich man. Nothing was going to stop him from opening his own five-star restaurant.
And he was on his way—until his car broke down on a dark road in the Adirondacks, leading him right to White Caps Inn… and Frankie Moorehouse.
Suddenly Nate has a job he doesn't really need—and an affair that has to end when summer does. Except Frankie has a way about her. She gets under his skin. She even makes him want to do what he never thought he could: stay forever. (courtesy of Amazon)

A great romance! Struggling for years to keep her family taken care off, Frankie’s at her wits end, and to top it off her cook quits. But what could be better than a chef to be stranded when his car breaks down. So classic, yet so not when it comes to Bird (J R Ward), you can just feel the drive behind her writing. This is J R Ward’s other name :), Jessica Bird and she represents the steam but gives us a stubborn woman for the man to work out (literally).

This was a quick read and a no brainer for me. I’ve got to get the companion books, An Unforgettable Lady and An Irresitble Bachelor read before the next one, The Player comes out! Once in a while, I like to step out of the paranormal world, especially when it’s a pen name of a favorite of mine :)

Lover Unleashed by J R Ward

Lover Unleashed (Black Dagger Brotherhood, Book 9)Payne, twin sister of Vishous, is cut from the same dark, seductive cloth as her brother. Imprisoned for eons by their mother, the Scribe Virgin, she finally frees herself-only to face a devastating injury. Manuel Manello, M.D., is drafted by the Brotherhood to save her as only he can-but when the human surgeon and the vampire warrior meet, their two worlds collide in the face of their undeniable passion. With so much working against them, can love prove stronger than the birthright and the biology that separates them?(courtesy of Amazon)

This has to be the third best Black Dagger Brotherhood yet – ok maybe I’m a little bias because this is Payne and Manny’s book and there is a TON of V - - - you know how I love V!  He’s one of my favorite brothers. .

Ward is shockingly amazing as she continues to weave this world of the Black Dagger Brotherhood.  She’s going strong and captivates her audience.
Payne – I kinda want to be Payne – she is the hard as nails fighter with a soft center.  It’s the perfect combination next to Xhex (who I really want to be).  The bad ass girls are definitely in the ranks.
As Payne and Manny’s story unfolds, V and Jane and Butch (can’t leave out Butch) are challenged to work out some huge kinks.  Until V can come to terms with himself, his twin can’t be happy.  The story takes a big focus on V and smaller on Payne.  Emotions roller coaster with Jane and V; Payne and Manny manage to steam it up; and some how, we’re caught right in the middle where we want to be.  Could we have had more Payne?  Maybe, but honestly I think there is more to come.  While Wrath, Rhage, Z and V had over the top action, we know the last 3 previous books have shown our more emotional brothers.  This book, meshes them together.  If you’re looking for a spoiler about Blay and Quinn, let’s just say, their saga continues…
Ward knocks me over again as she manages to get so much into a book less than 500 pages.  The story runs like a well-oiled machine, given the number of situations Ward normally has going on in the books and the switch back and forth, this one is done over the top the best.  As a mom of boy/girl twins, I loved the Payne/V relationship.
If you have never read the series, jump up and get to the store to find Dark Lover – Book 1 in the series.  You will not be disappointed.  If you are just waiting for your copy of Lover Unleashed to arrive, when it gets there, rip open the package, close and lock your door, and read on!  Ward’s announced the next book, I’ll say it’s not Blay and Quinn L But I’m hoping with the new characters in this book, it grabs the action again….

Crave by J R Ward

Crave (Fallen Angels, Book 2)Seven deadly sins. Seven souls that must be saved. One more no-holds- barred battle between a fallen angel with a hardened heart and a demon with everything to lose.

Isaac Rothe is a black ops soldier with a dark past and a grim future. The target of an assassin, he finds himself behind bars, his fate in the hands of his gorgeous public defender Grier Childe. His hot attraction to her can only lead to trouble-and that's before Jim Heron tells him his soul is in danger. Caught up in a wicked game with the demon who shadows Jim, Isaac must decide whether the soldier in him can believe that true love is the ultimate weapon against evil. (courtesy of Amazon)

I thoroughly enjoy J R Ward’s Black Dagger Brotherhood series, so you can imagine my excitement when she created a new series – The Fallen Angels.  This is the 2nd book in the series (Covet being the first).

I felt this book started out a little slower than I anticipated, but it definitely picked up and took me on a twisting coaster ride.  Just when you are following along, you’re thrown a hard left that gives you that drop your stomach feeling and gets you in to find out where you’re going.  The battle for souls rolls on, this is the 2nd out of 7 and good can’t lose, can they??

Our lead character Grier is a hard core buttoned up female lawyer, who still wants to save any defendant she can.  On her latest pro bono case she gets match to a bad ass assassin, Isaac with a past to scare most woman off.  But that isn’t all our storyline – angels and demons must battle over who can be saved or pulled to the ‘dark side’.  A few things are a little over the top and partly wished it was a little shorter.  The story buttons up a little quicker than it took to get there.
