Welcome to our blog!
Amy and Jennifer ARE Seduced by Books. We’re both in our 30’s, moms, close friends, work together, and share many of the same interests including our love of reading. Amy grew up in Maryland and has been obsessed with Vampires for as long as she can remember. Jenn grew up in Florida and loves the furry, the fey, and the fangs, in that order. Currently we are both in Orlando, FL. When we can be pulled away from books, Amy loves to bake and Jenn loves to take pictures and scrap.
We decided to create a place where we could direct friends, and acquaintances for, book suggestions/recommendations (Jenn’s been known to talk to strangers on the train while traveling in NYC). Once we started out with a simple page, we evolved from there. Now we are sharing our book reviews, fun comments, recipes, and giveaways. We try to give reviews on new releases, pre-releases, and oldies but goodies that we read, or are reading. We’re going to be adding author interviews for established and up and coming authors soon.

NEW RELEASES - - I'm so excited and I just can't hide it!

I can not believe all the new reads coming out in the next few months.  Book releases are sooo much better than movies.  We get books from our favorite authors and it's like candy :)

Sharie Kohler writes as a pen name - Sophie Jordan and in 8 days her latest, young adult book FIRELIGHT is released.  I personally love Sharie's Moon Chasers series.  She writes about shifters, and I'm (Jenn) partial to my shifters.  So if Firelight wasn't enough - the 4th book in the Moon Chasers series is due out next week - MY SOUL TO KEEP and I am anxious for that one too.  We also have an anthology HAUNTED by your TOUCH that is on it's way at the end of October.

Sept 7th is a busy day - one of my faves, Sherrilyn Kenyon, releases NO MERCY.  The latest book in the Dark Hunter series, featuring Dev and Sam, HOT!  Sherrilyn has a lot coming out this year and early next.  I'm waiting with baited breath for the Belador series she's writing with Dianne Love.

Anthology - featuring Jacquelyn Frank and Jess Haines - Noctural releases 9/7 as well.

Sept 28th releases
Lara Adrian - - - -Taken by Midnight latest in the Midnight Breed Series.  I love what Adrian has done with taking her own twist on the origin of "vampires", it gives us a fresh read.

Left for Undead - - (L A Banks) - Latest in the Crimson Moon series, sexy wolves and lots of action, right up my alley.

Eat PREY Love - - Kerrelyn Sparks - - Latest in the Love at Stake series.  Kerrelyn writes romantic, sexy and fun books.  This one is about Carlos.  I got word, Connor's book is up next!

Anthologies - Blood Lite II and Deadly Promises are released on the 28th as well.

Kiss Me if You Can

By Carly Phillips

Sam Cooper ("Coop") has just become the most eligible bachelor in New York City. Now that he has foiled a jewelry-store robbery and has been rewarded with the ring of his choice, single women all over the city are fawning over the crime reporter. But Coop isn't interested in the admirers sending racy underwear his way. His attention is centered solely on Lexie Davis, the only woman in the city who claims not to be interested in his bachelor status.

Instead, free-spirited Lexie is interested in Coop's antique ring, and its—potentially scandalous—history in her family. But Coop is quickly becoming more than just her route to the ring. When his investigation starts to uncover the truth, will she trust her heart—and her family secrets—to this most eligible bachelor?
(back cover comments)

I happened upon this read following one of our fellow bloggers sites.  I figured I'd give it a try coming from one of the reviewers we respect.  It's not in the usual paranormal genre, but I enjoy a good read.

I had never read Carly Phillips before, but I can tell you I will be again!!!  This read was definitely one I didn't put down.   It was quick-witted and full of fun romance.  I finished it in about 4 hours.

Coop is a instantly, likeable character.  He is recovering from a past that leaves him wary of new relationships.  He's thrown himself into his work as a hope to avoid his personal life.  After getting thrown into the limelight, he finds that maybe his personal life was in a little need of attention and he knows just who can help with it.  His complete opposite - Lexie.  Lexie is an independent woman (I love that quality) and she wants to figure out what the story is with Coop's ring and her family.  Never thinking a business situation would turn personal, Lexie has to overcome her past issue in order to figure out where her future will go.

Phillip's writing is great.  I was sucked in.  There is some great humor when Lexie's grandmother gets involved, I definitely laughed out loud.  Lexie and Coop are easy to relate to, which made this read easy to see before your eyes.  They definitely say what they mean and then learn from their mistakes.  I can't wait for the next in this series - Love Me if You Dare.  Phillips has many other reads that I'm adding to my to-be-read list.  Enjoy!

Tell me what you see...Fairiewalker

Glimmerglass by Jenna Black
Dana Hathaway doesn't know it yet, but she's in big trouble. When her alcoholic mom shows up at her voice recital drunk, again, Dana decides she’s had enough and runs away to find her mysterious father in Avalon: the only place on Earth where the regular, everyday world and the captivating, magical world of Faerie intersect. But from the moment Dana sets foot in Avalon, everything goes wrong, for it turns out she isn't just an ordinary teenage girl—she's a Faeriewalker, a rare individual who can travel between both worlds, and the only person who can bring magic into the human world and technology into Faerie.
Soon, Dana finds herself tangled up in a cutthroat game of Fae politics. Someone's trying to kill her, and everyone seems to want something from her, from her newfound friends and family to Ethan, the hot Fae guy Dana figures she’ll never have a chance with… until she does.  Caught between two worlds, Dana isn’t sure where she’ll ever fit in and who can be trusted, not to mention if her world will ever be normal again… (back cover)

Glimmerglass is the first in the new Young Adult – Fairiewalker series by Jenna Black.

What teenage girl wouldn’t want to stumble into the world of the Fae, where every guy is more gorgeous than the next?

I truly enjoyed this read.  For me it was a quick, page turner, right from the start I didn’t want to put it down.

I love how Black set up the lead character, Dana, to be a responsible 16 year old, who is mature yet still naïve.  Dana is extremely well done, you love her from the start.  Dana Hathaway rushes to leave the problems of her mom beyond, only to discover her world was not nearly as turned around as it could be.  Captivity, lies and tricks await her as she arrives in Avalon, as well as Ethan and ….shall we say boy #2…who enjoys throwing her down.

The world of the Fae is always fascinating and can easily be ruined as authors make it “their own”.  Black has not left me disappointed and we’ve only just hit the tip of the world in this book.  I hope that Black takes us on the magical journey through her version of the world in many more books in this series; I for one can’t wait.  I think I’ve only been this excited about the Fae world from 2 other authors (some of my faves in para-rotica)

Great book for teens and adults…. 4/5
Book 2 in this series is due out next year.
Just a note – I loved the cover of this book, the matte feel of the paper was unique.

Will his kiss change her life? Or his?

ETERNAL KISS OF DARKNESS
by Jeaniene Frost

"An immortal way has been brewing in the darkness...and now one woman has stumbled into the shadows.

Chicago private investigator Kira Graceling should have just kept walking. But her sense of duty refused to let her ignore the moans of pain coming from inside a warehouse just before dawn. Suddenly she finds herself in a world she's only imagined in her worst nightmares.

At the center is Mencheres, a breathtaking Master vampire who thought he'd seen it all. Then Kira appears - this fearless, beautiful...human who braved death to rescue him. Though he burns for her, keeping Kira in his world means risking her life. Yet sending her away is unthinkable.

But with danger closing in, Mencheres must choose either the woman he craves, or embracing the darkest magic to defeat an enemy bent on his eternal destruction."   (back cover comments)

(This is my first review, so be gentle, I'll get better) - Jennifer

I found Frost's Night Huntress series first while browsing for new books a while back.  I was tempted by the red-head huntress on the cover.  After reading the 4 in the series (book 5 due out soon) I was thrilled to see that she planned to do a spin-off series - Night Huntress World - and explore the other characters introduced in her Night Huntress series.  First Drop of Crimson was the "first" book in the spin-off series, and for a quick review, I definitely enjoyed it, typical Frost, action, plot, fun and of course, sex.  I love how Frost keeps the 2 lead characters (Cat and Bones) separate in the NH series and is continues to write their stories, while giving us the sub-stories of the remaining cast that we meet in the NHW series.  Cat and Bones only make a brief appearance in the NHW books.  Let's get to it shall we...

Eternal Kiss of Darkness dives into Mencheres, who we have been introduced to in several of the NH books. Mencheres is comtemplating "life" and thinks he has it figured out, when his plans are thrown off by Kira.  As an extremely old Master vampire with a special gift, not much has thrown Mencheres for a loop, yet he had never met any one like Kira.  Spending a week with someone can show you there true intentions and Kira is completely unexpected and amazingly unselfish.

Just when you think your story is played out, Frost switches up your plot and adds her twist to keep you intrigued.  Caring for young vampires, proving your innocence and avoiding being captured is a tough job, but somehow, Frost gets that notorious 'wall climbing' S E X scene in just as needed.

EKD isn't just boy meets girl and falls in love, in order to open their hearts they have to overcome their pasts while keeping their future alive even if we are in the world of the undead.  I genuinely enjoyed Eternal Kiss of Darkness.  I do like Frost's writing style and feel like I'm in the middle of the book.  Go out and grab the book - start with NH series and enjoy.

As for the cover, please don't get discouraged, the saying was always "don't judge a  book by it's cover" and I have to say, for the NHW covers we could do much better...I'm not feeling the blood droplets that on the actual book look like they were done in paint; but the book inside, is a 4/5 for me!

DIY Library!

Hey everyone, it's Amy.

As some of you are probably aware, I'm can be a bit nerdy sometimes.  One of my favorite "nerdy" websites is thinkgeek.com.  Here you can purchase a plethora of fun things like the bluetooth retro handset, (it looks like a regular phone handset, but with no wires...so people will think you're talking into nothing!) a "Come to the dark side. We have cookies." apron, and The Vampire Seduction Handbook.   Great, right?!  Anyway, while browsing their latest e-mail (because of course I'm on their list) imagine my joy and surprise to see they have a DIY library!   That's right.  Now all of you out there that lend your books to friends can handle it like an old school library...complete with date stamp and check out cards!!   Ok, maybe I'm not so strict that I give my friends a due date on books they borrow.  It still seems like it would be fun to have, just to watch your friend's reaction when you have them actually check out your book!
