Welcome to our blog!
Amy and Jennifer ARE Seduced by Books. We’re both in our 30’s, moms, close friends, work together, and share many of the same interests including our love of reading. Amy grew up in Maryland and has been obsessed with Vampires for as long as she can remember. Jenn grew up in Florida and loves the furry, the fey, and the fangs, in that order. Currently we are both in Orlando, FL. When we can be pulled away from books, Amy loves to bake and Jenn loves to take pictures and scrap.
We decided to create a place where we could direct friends, and acquaintances for, book suggestions/recommendations (Jenn’s been known to talk to strangers on the train while traveling in NYC). Once we started out with a simple page, we evolved from there. Now we are sharing our book reviews, fun comments, recipes, and giveaways. We try to give reviews on new releases, pre-releases, and oldies but goodies that we read, or are reading. We’re going to be adding author interviews for established and up and coming authors soon.

Blood Challenge by Eileen Wilks

Blood Challenge (Lupi)Ex-cop Lily Yu and werewolf Rule Turner's engagement announcement is stirring up ugly passions in the Humans First camp. There's hate mail, followed by death threats. And when a lupus in Tennessee goes on a killing spree, Lily realizes that it's only the opening skirmish in an all-out war.(courtesy of Amazon)

The above description may be brief and lacking, but this book is anything but.

Wilks has created such an amazing world of the Lupi.  Book 7 in the series, I still can't get enough of Lily and Rule. They are my 2nd ALL-TIME favorite couple from a book series, and I've read a lot of series.  Wilks has given us two characters and evolved them to be so memorable.  Lily had so many reservations in life when she met Rule in book 1, everything she knew and had resolved to live by has been questioned and turned upside down.  Lily has grown so much from the beginning, and watching her changes have been amazing.  Rule takes live as it is, and handles it.  He's the perfect match for Lily.  You can’t get enough of them.  Throw in the rest of the cast and you have one of my favorite teams.

The C couple (trying not to spoil) along with Rule's family and pack have complimented the whole story.  These books are not just about the paranormal, while magic and fantasy are a large part of the books, mystery and thrills along with true crime investigation are the drivers that keep this series alive.  Wilks researches to give the books a real feel, meeting with crime scene investigations, trauma nurses, and probably weres themselves (just kidding on that last part).  This book, gives us insight to more of Rule's brother, Benedict.  We also place Lily in the pack and out of the police world for a bit.

Wilks Lupi series is action-packed, charged with mystery and true crime solving.    The base of the Lupi world she has created is imaginative and, yet, believable.  She has a talent matched only by a few.  I am on pins and needles awaiting Death Magic Book 8, due out this year also, Nov 2011.

Blood Magic by Eileen Wilks

Blood Magic (World of the Lupi, Book 6)Lily Yu and Lupi prince Rule Turner have a bigger problem than their families not accepting their impending human/werewolf mixed marriage. A powerful ancient nemesis of Lily's grandmother has come to San Diego to turn the city into a feeding ground. (courtesy of Amazon)

5 slices, you need this series.  I know I usually save my rating for the end of the review, but I LOVED this book.  Wilks CONTINUES to keep me addicted to this series.  I am crossing my fingers for the newest book (Blood Challenge) to arrive a little early.
As soon as I crack open her books, I’m engaged.  Just about finished with one of the short stories from the series (between Mortal Sins and Blood Magic) and I truly mean it, on page one I’m engaged back into the World of the Lupi.
In Blood Magic, during one of the happiest times of their lives, dearest friend, Cullen is attacked, and on Clan Property.  Lily jumps in to handle the investigation, but is torn because this is someone she cares for as a brother and her mate's life long friend.
Lily’s on a reality check where she needs to determine her feelings on marriage.  She is such a strong character for a small Asian woman.  Working with her mate, Rule, to fight the evils that jeopardize the world’s safety hasn’t left her much time for her wedding plans, which she is not upset about.  Lily has been extremely independent and opening her life to change has been one thing she has avoided.  Somehow, closure from an ex, fighting the bad guy (or girl as it may be), and trying to keep everyone alive has set her on the right path.  We learn more of where Lily's special talents have come from - as well as more about her 'magical' grandmother's past.  Amazingly done, Wilks, brings in more of the back story.  Thrills, mystery, and plot you can't go wrong.

Mortal Sins by Eileen Wilks

Mortal Sins (World of the Lupi, Book 5)FBI Agent Lily Yu and her werewolf lover are embroiled in a series of murders, each linked to a form of dangerous “death magic.”

I've previously featured this series in a review when I was on book 4 of the series.
World of the Lupi Review so far

Can the World give Lily and Rule a break to handle some personal business….doesn’t seem like it.  I’ve grown to feel like I’m family to these two GREAT lead characters.  Lily is one bad ass heroine who is finally making a life with her mate Rule.  Her character is extremely likable and as she is growing in her role it’s been amazing to watch.  Wilks really has a knack for keeping you interested.  Rule is the mate everyone would love to have.  He’s been amazing, understanding, and completely sexy.

In each book we have a small story line that rolls right into the big plot that links these books together.  Lily has had lots of life decisions to work in.  But she also needs to solve a murder and fight a potential demon.  There is no boredom in one of Wilks Lupi books.
Wilks' writing is suspenseful, intense, thrilling, sexy, and yet so real and not over the top.

The more I get into the series, the easier I'm attached to the book.

Eileen Wilks - World of the Lupi - Lily and Rule

I'm starting book 4 - Night Season - in this World of the Lupi series by Eileen Wilks.  I wanted to mark these books since I'm playing catch up on some that have been out for a while.

This series opens up a slightly different take on shifters.  Our 'normal' world is just learning of otherworld creatures, talents, and gifts.  Wilks delivers this well.  The main character Lily Yu is a Chinese American, while short in height, she packs a big attitude.  She's independent and a cop, with a gift of her own.  Meeting prince charming, literally, Rule Turner, immediately recognizes her role in his life.  He works hard to put him in that place and Lily has to accept him or...else :) While dealing with the lemon life has thrown at her, she can't stop there.  She's a cop and the head in a murder investigation.  So far she had to get a crash course in the World of the Lupi and isn't sure she wants her place in it.  But as the stories move forward we're finding where she belongs.  We've got sorcerers, demons, witches, gifted, dizzies, goddesses, and of course the MCD division of the FBI.  I love mystery in the paranormal world because there is so much...mystery to it.  I find these books a great twist on the traditional.  One thing I love about a series is when the "couple" doesn't end in the first book.  So far, Lily and Rule have had to develop and we get action, SEX (of course) and more development in the supporting characters.  Each of the books takes us through how they evolve so I don't feel like they were a closed "book".

I can't wait to see where the next 4 books take me.  I just wanted to give you a brief overview.  We've got the latest book coming out in January 2011 and I'll trying to catch up as well as keep up with my current new releases.

So far the series is a 4 for me :)
