Welcome to our blog!
Amy and Jennifer ARE Seduced by Books. We’re both in our 30’s, moms, close friends, work together, and share many of the same interests including our love of reading. Amy grew up in Maryland and has been obsessed with Vampires for as long as she can remember. Jenn grew up in Florida and loves the furry, the fey, and the fangs, in that order. Currently we are both in Orlando, FL. When we can be pulled away from books, Amy loves to bake and Jenn loves to take pictures and scrap.
We decided to create a place where we could direct friends, and acquaintances for, book suggestions/recommendations (Jenn’s been known to talk to strangers on the train while traveling in NYC). Once we started out with a simple page, we evolved from there. Now we are sharing our book reviews, fun comments, recipes, and giveaways. We try to give reviews on new releases, pre-releases, and oldies but goodies that we read, or are reading. We’re going to be adding author interviews for established and up and coming authors soon.

LIZ STRANGE - Interview and Giveaway

Welcome Author LIZ STRANGE – author of several great series, including the Dark Kiss trilogy.  Thank you so much for coming on the site.  I love the Dark Kiss trilogy, as you know J as well as your short stories, erotica, and am still impressed in your delivery of the M/M spin off Embrace of Life and Death, bringing our intriguing boy Kieran from the Dark Kiss trilogy into his own story

SBB:  So for those of our followers that have not yet heard of you, can you tell us about yourself?

LIZ:  Well, I am a single mom to four kids, I work in a local hospital by day and write tales of the weird and wonderful by night. I love horror, paranormal, sci-fi/fantasy genres for reading and TV/movies. I am also hugely obsessed with ancient history and mythology, which often makes appearances in my books.

SBB:  You ROCK!  We have some of those silly interview questions we have to ask –  (No offense, but the world’s gotta know) – these are our standard we have to ask everyone J

What’s your favorite color?    Green (Surprising it’s not black, I know.

What’s your favorite Holiday?   Hallowe’en. Of course.

From Amy (being the baker that she is) what’s your favorite dessert?    Lemon Meringue pie or cherry cheesecake.

Cute or Comfy?   A little of both.

Bitten or the Biter? Again, a little of both. It depends on the moment. J

SBB:  What are some of your favorite books and/or authors

Liz:  I love Anne Rice, Michael Slade, Laurell Hamilton, Tanya Huff, Raven Hart, Patricia Cornwell, Karin Slaughter, Kathy Reichs, H.P. Lovecraft, Dean Koontz and many others. Some of my favourite books are The Picture of Dorian Grey, A Handmaid’s Tale, Interview with the Vampire.

SBB:  What gave you the inspiration for the Dark Kiss trilogy?  And why did you keep the vampires dark (which I loved)?

LIZ:  I wrote the first book in the series about twenty years ago. At that time most vampire books were straight horror. Then I read Anne Rice and it changed my view and sparked my imagination. I wondered if vampires could be both monsters and allies, and began the series with that premise in mind. Now I do like my vamps with an edge, they do drink people’s blood after all. And they aren’t really human. I believe they would have their own “code of ethics”, motivations and reactions to certain situations and people. I am a horror/dark fantasy fan at heart, and my stories will always reflect that.

SBB: And I would never want you to change it, cause it’s working GREAT!  I LOVE Eli, don’t get me wrong, I’m happy with the way things turn out, but I just wondered, how much you felt him while you wrote?

LIZ:  Oh, Eli. Where do I begin? I also love this character, and I really connected with him. I could feel and understand why he is the way he is, and why he feels what he does for Rachel. It’s a very complicated situation, and the poor guy was put through a lot! I am glad he had his own happy ending, so to speak. In fact I have thought about doing an Eli spin off as another Dark Kiss Tale.

SBB: OOH I would love Eli to have a book all his own - You’re here today and you have so many things in the works, tell us about your mysteries and your romance/erotica?

LIZ:  I have written a couple of short erotic pieces, a contemporary and a paranormal. I also wrote The Embrace of Life and death, which is a spin-off to the Dark Kiss Trilogy. It is more an erotic fantasy than paranormal romance.
I have also written my first mystery called Missing Daughter, Shattered Family that will be out in the next month or so. I am very proud of this piece. I have been a long-time mystery reader, but have never tried writing I the genre before. I’m so happy with how it turned out and look forward to some feedback.

SBB:  What’s next?

LIZ:  I am working on a few projects write now. Expect some more Dark Kiss tales, another mystery and a few new things. I like to keep expanding and trying new things.

SBB:  We’re so glad you came over – We can’t help get your name out there enough.  You have been generous to offer a couple of chances as you visit over the next few weeks for giveaways.  Did you plan one for today?

LIZ:  I am happy to give away an e-book copy of Born of Blood and Retribution and The Embrace of Life and Death. Please leave a comment about which one you’d like.

SBB:  Awesome – thanks so much for coming – so commenters, make sure you are following the blog and remember not only does your comment win one of Liz’s great books, it also gets you in our blog-iversary contest.  Leave your contact email in the comment :) entries end on Sunday Aug 28th

  2. Of these 2 books, I would probably choose Born of Blood... Are the books able to be read alone, or do they need to be read in order? I would love to start at the beginning to tryi it if it is important to do so.
    Thanks for the giveaway.

  3. I'm totally one of those that MUST read a series in order. I just can't fathom anyone reading them out of order.
